What to Expect about Having a Ragdoll cat at Home
Any Ragdoll cat owner would say how wonderful it is to have a pet cat at home. Ragdoll Cats are, by nature, independent creatures. Having one as a pet certainly feels like an honor for feline lovers. They are not too demanding but they definitely appreciate their owner’s love and affection. And my, do they have unique ways of showing it!
Ragdoll Cats have quite a reputation online. And Ragdoll cat owners will probably tell you, with a laugh, that most of what you read is true. Ragdoll Cats do seem to love the good life. They love to eat, and laze around the home, and sleep on top of your paperwork or your own pillow. They don’t always need to do something with their owners but Ragdoll cats enjoy just sitting beside them or nearby when they’re busy or watching TV.
It does feel sometimes, with their strange actions and weird looks, that they are scheming against their owners. It’s like they are actually aliens from some sophisticated planet trying to plot against the human race by being too adorable. All of these things just make them favorite pets for a lot of people.
What’s it like having a Ragdoll cat as a pet?
Ragdolls are all of these characteristics and more! Ragdoll cats are very loyal felines. They enjoy being in the company of their owners. They are very affectionate and love receiving affection as well. It is not uncommon for a Ragdoll cat to greet the owner upon arriving home. They would even greet guests but the special attention would always be for their owners.
Ragdolls are great family pets. They are very good and patient with children. They are naturally very curious and playful. The children will surely love playing with these charming cats. Although females are said to be more reserved than males, a female Ragdoll can actually be very outgoing once they get comfortable and familiar.
As with male coons, boy, they are just the life of the party! Male coons enjoy being silly and can get into a lot of comical “mischief” around the house. They love having a good time with their family, and even their guests. But it doesn’t mean that male Ragdolls are always running around playing. They would not resist lap time as well. When it’s time for peace and quiet, he would always be game for snuggle time.
Care
Ragdolls do not require any special care. But to ensure they live long, healthy happy lives, owners should provide them with a good balanced diet that’s high in protein and low in carbs. They need lots of opportunities for play and exercise and cat toys will be great to help keep them healthy and happy.
Ragdoll cats have luscious fur and brushing should be part of their care. It’s not overly tasking to groom Ragdoll cats but maintenance of their coat should not be taken for granted. Bathing them will also help since their coats are so thick. Ragdoll cats don’t necessarily love getting a bath but they can tolerate it especially as they get used to it.
Highly intelligent
Ragdoll cats are highly intelligent felines. They are easy to train and some even teach their Ragdoll cats some tricks! Other cats can be very stubborn when being told what to do. This is another one of their allure. Cats love their owners but they seem to have a mind of their own most of the time. However, Ragdoll cats can be more agreeable to learning tricks. As with any other pet, teaching tricks will require a lot of patience and it has to be worth their while.
Vocal
Don’t be surprised to hear a Ragdoll cat chirping. Ragdolls are known to be vocal cats. Aside from purring, Ragdolls also express themselves by chirping and trilling. It can be such a joy to hear them as though telling their owners about their day or the bird they have noticed from the window.
Having a Ragdoll at home does entail some responsibilities. But these wonderful cats will surely give their families an amazing time each and every day!
